    Strategic Golf

    Dean Reinmuth

Most golfers have a general idea of what they want to do on each hole—drive it here, don’t miss there, stay below the hole—but sometimes their strategy is flawed. Or, if they start playing badly, the plan goes out the window. In this video series, teacher Dean Reinmuth takes you through the best ways to play par 3s, par 4s and par 5s.

    Par-4 Strategy

Par 4s come in all different shapes and sizes, but the usual strategy is to pull driver and hit it as far as you can down the middle. Distance is always nice, but the key to playing par 4s is giving yourself a good angle to the pin on your second shot. In this video, Dean Reinmuth explains the best ways to position your tee shot, play into the green and walk away with a good score.

    Par-3 Strategy

Par 3s are great opportunities to put a low number on your scorecard, but they can lead to round-wrecking mistakes if you’re not careful. The safest play is usually the best play, no matter how long or short the hole. Here, Dean Reinmuth demonstrates how to attack these short holes from the tee and also around the green.

    Par-5 Strategy

Par 5s can seem daunting, but they shouldn’t be, because they present a variety of options. The aggressive player loves par 5s, seeing an opportunity to swing away off the tee and go for the green in two. But all players can effectively navigate the par 5s with three safe shots, setting up a good birdie look. In this video, Dean Reinmuth shows you how to conquer these long holes.
